The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations said Minister Samuel Nartey George played a key role in discussions with the pay-TV operators, advocating more affordable subscriptions and improved access to television content for Ghanaian households.

Ghana has introduced revised DStv subscription packages following engagements between the government, MultiChoice and Canal+, as authorities seek to address consumer concerns over affordability and value for money.

The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations  said Minister Samuel Nartey George played a key role in discussions with the pay-TV operators, advocating more affordable subscriptions and improved access to television content for Ghanaian households.

Under the latest agreement, DStv will offer four revised subscription packages priced between GH¢50 and GH¢570 per month, according to a statement from the ministry.

The revised packages form part of efforts to respond to concerns from subscribers about subscription costs and the value they receive from pay-TV services. The ministry said the engagement was driven by dialogue, consumer protection and the pursuit of better value for Ghanaian customers.

The agreement also includes measures aimed at addressing piracy and promoting legitimate access to pay-TV services.

The ministry described the outcome as the result of sustained engagement with MultiChoice and Canal+, with the government seeking to balance consumer interests with the provision of television content through authorised platforms.

The announcement did not specify the names of the four revised packages, their individual prices or when the new rates take effect.
