Zambia has made significant strides in its cybersecurity efforts, achieving an impressive 92.6% in the Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) 2023, up from 68.8% in 2020. The GCI, developed by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), evaluates countries’ cybersecurity development across five pillars: legal measures, technical measures, organizational measures, capacity building, and international cooperation. Zambia’s steady improvement from a score of just 14.7% in 2014 reflects the government’s strategic focus on enhancing cybersecurity policies, regulations, and institutions. These advancements are integral to Zambia’s efforts to position itself as a leader in cybersecurity in Africa.
