Kenya Strengthens Partnership with Italy to Boost Space and Emerging Technologies

Kenya partners with Italy to advance space technology, AI, and digital infrastructure for improved public services and socioeconomic development.

Kenya is strategically strengthening its partnership with Italy to leverage on space technology and other emerging technologies for enhanced public service delivery.

The Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy Dr. Margaret Ndung’u has today afternoon met the Italian Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy H.E. Adolfo Urso in a bilateral meeting held at the Ministry’s Headquarters.

The meeting discussed how the two nations can collaborate in developing space technology to enhance public service delivery, advanced ways to roll out fiber-optic cables countrywide, developing knowledge exchange, manufacturing of chips and digital devices.

They also discoursed best ways of leveraging on Artificial Intelligence for social economic development, advancement of a unified integrated healthcare system, integrating digital identity into service delivery and ensuring the realization of a paperless Government.

They further deliberated on enhancement of sustainable infrastructure, landscape and ecosystem, setting up of an Italian digital hub in Kenya to strengthen the bilateral ties and advance the interests of both nations in the digital space.

The meeting was attended by the Principal Secretary, Broadcasting and Telecommunications Prof. Edward Kisiang’ani and senior officials from Kenya and Italy.
