MTN Exits Afghanistan, Operations Rebranded as ATOMA

MTN exits Afghanistan after 17 years, transferring operations to M1 Group. The mobile service now operates under the name ATOMA.

MTN has officially exited the Afghan market, finalizing the transfer of its operations to Beirut-based M1 Group.

The company will now operate in Afghanistan under the new brand name, ATOMA , marking the end of MTN’s presence in the country.

MTN launched its services in Afghanistan in 2007, commanded 40% of the market, and was the country’s leading mobile operator.
