Ghana Government and Helios Towers Deepen Partnership for Telecom Growth and Digital Transformation

The Ghanaian government and telecommunications infrastructure company Helios Towers have reaffirmed their strong commitment to strengthening the country’s telecom sector and advancing its digital transformation agenda. This renewed pledge was solidified during a recent courtesy call by Helios Towers Group CEO, Tom Greenwood, and his team on Ghana’s Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP).
During the meeting, Tom Greenwood outlined Helios Towers’ ambitious plans for Ghana, which include expanding its neutral tower hosting capabilities and providing crucial ICT training to over 2,000 students. He emphasized the company’s long-standing presence in Ghana, noting that after 15 years of operations, Helios Towers is committed to continued investment for at least the next 15 years. This signals a robust, long-term partnership with the government aimed at fostering inclusive digital development across the nation.
Minister Samuel Nartey George acknowledged the significant growth within Ghana’s telecom sector, attributing it to the introduction of affordable products and services, a surge in demand for data, and increasing smartphone adoption. He expressed confidence in the sector’s continued expansion, with a strategic focus on broadening network coverage and enhancing digital infrastructure.
