This move is hailed as a revolutionary step towards secure, seamless, and efficient digital identity verification across the nation.

SMART Zambia Institute , the e-Government Division leading Zambia’s digital transformation, has announced the imminent rollout of its Electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) system. This move is hailed as a revolutionary step towards secure, seamless, and efficient digital identity verification across the nation.

The new eKYC solution aims to significantly transform digital transactions by bolstering security, reducing the risks of fraud and identity theft, and enhancing convenience through faster, paperless onboarding for various services. Critically, it is also set to drive financial inclusion by making identity verification more accessible to all citizens.

Malama Kangwa from SMART Zambia’s Systems Development and Support Department is actively promoting the cutting-edge features and benefits of the eKYC system, which is envisioned to shape a smarter, more connected Zambia.

The introduction of eKYC aligns with Zambia’s broader digital agenda, which has seen initiatives like the SMART Office Management System and the adoption of open Government-to-Person (G2P) solutions for digital identity management. These efforts underscore the government’s commitment to modernizing public institutions and improving service delivery through technology. SMART Zambia Institute has previously received support from partners like MOSIP and the World Bank, highlighting a collaborative approach to building robust digital public infrastructure.
