Safaricom’s rapid growth has been closely linked to Kenya’s digital transformation, with services like M-PESA playing a central role in driving financial inclusion and connectivity across the country.

Safaricom PLC  has announced a significant customer milestone, surpassing 50 million mobile network users in Kenya. The achievement marks a major moment in the company’s 25-year journey of innovation and digital inclusion.

In a statement,  Safaricom described the milestone as a “testament to the profound trust, unwavering loyalty, and incredible partnership” it has built with Kenyans since its launch in 2000, when it had just 17,000 subscribers.

The company expressed gratitude to its customers for their continued engagement and support through various initiatives, including Sambaza Furaha and M-PESA Sokoni, both of which aim to bring services and rewards closer to communities across the country.

“As we approach our silver jubilee in October 2025, we wholeheartedly recommit ourselves to always being a force for good and relentlessly creating what’s next for each and every one of you,” the company said.

Safaricom’s rapid growth has been closely linked to Kenya’s digital transformation, with services like M-PESA playing a central role in driving financial inclusion and connectivity across the country. The company says it remains committed to transforming lives and shaping the future of mobile services in Kenya.
