Algeria Accelerates Mobile Network Rollout with 40 New Stations in Annaba

The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications  has announced significant progress in enhancing communication and postal services in Annaba State, reflecting the implementation of instructions issued by Minister of Posts and Wire Transport, Mr. Syed Ali Zarouqi, during his field visit in April 2025. A recent follow-up review confirmed that the initiatives have resulted in tangible improvements, ensuring quality public services for citizens across the state.

One of the most notable achievements is the rapid expansion of the fiber optic network. Under the Network Asarna program, the conversion from copper to fiber optic infrastructure has accelerated, connecting new residential areas and neighborhoods. The number of fiber optic subscribers has risen from 65,454 in April 2025 to 95,768 currently, marking a 46% increase. Teams from Algeria Telecom have been actively engaging communities through awareness campaigns and neighborhood outreach, encouraging adoption of fiber technology.

In terms of mobile network coverage, 40 new stations have been installed since the Minister’s visit, with more than 120 additional stations scheduled to become operational across Annaba. To further enhance services during the summer season, temporary mobile stations were deployed at key beaches, including Janan Albay, Shataibi, Shabi, Sanklo, Sidi Salem, and Ain Ashir, ensuring stronger mobile and internet connectivity for residents and tourists.

The state has also seen advancements in digital skills development. A dedicated Skills Center has been made available to students, researchers, and start-ups, offering training activities and expert-led workshops in fields such as artificial intelligence. This initiative aims to equip Annaba’s youth with modern technological skills and foster innovation.

Postal services have equally been strengthened. Two mobile post offices were deployed in the new city to ease congestion and bring services closer to citizens. Another mobile office was introduced in Arctic Caleetus. Additionally, plans are underway to establish two permanent post offices in new city Feather Arm and Armani Caleetosa, with preparatory studies already completed.

The Ministry stressed that these achievements reflect its determination to improve communication networks and postal infrastructure, while also supporting technological innovation and responding to the needs of citizens. Annaba’s progress is seen as a model of how coordinated efforts and ministerial follow-up can accelerate the development of public services in Algeria.
