Egypt Opens 29th Cairo ICT Exhibition, Showcasing Major Advances in Digital Transformation
Madbouli emphasized that Egypt’s communications and information technology sector has firmly positioned itself as a strategic engine for national growth.
Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli has inaugurated the 29th edition of the Cairo International Middle East and Africa Technology Exhibition and Conference (Cairo ICT 2025), held from November 16–19 under the theme “AI Everywhere”. The event gathers more than 500 exhibitors, major government bodies, and leading technology companies at the Egypt International Exhibition Center in New Cairo.
Madbouli emphasized that Egypt’s communications and information technology sector has firmly positioned itself as a strategic engine for national growth. He noted that the state continues to implement a comprehensive digital strategy aimed at shifting the sector from a service-based model to a productive, export-oriented contributor to the national economy.
During his tour, the Prime Minister reviewed the latest government-led digital initiatives, including the pilot launch of new services for Egyptians abroad on the Digital Egypt platform. The initial rollout enables users overseas to request authenticated civil documents such as birth, marriage, divorce, and death certificates.
Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat outlined the pillars of Egypt’s digital strategy, focusing on digital access, technology manufacturing, skill-building, and innovation. He highlighted the expansion of digital public services, the upcoming launch of My Digital Card for remote identity verification, and the introduction of exclusive digital service bundles covering 45 government services in their first phase.
The Minister also showcased progress in Egypt’s technology manufacturing sector. Fifteen mobile device brands have invested a combined USD 200 million in local production facilities, with an annual output capacity of 20 million units. Local manufacturing of fiber-optic cables has also increased through four domestic producers, bringing total investments in both industries to USD 263 million and generating around 9,000 jobs.
Talaat detailed efforts to develop digital skills among youth through national programs such as Digitopia, Mahara-Tech, and various training initiatives targeting school students, university learners, and graduates. More than 285,000 trainees have benefited from Mahara-Tech alone, which recently received a UNESCO award for responsible digital learning.
The exhibition features major digital transformation projects including real estate export systems, digital litigation platforms, AI-powered transcription tools for justice services, and digital services for public institutions. Telecom operators are also presenting next-generation infrastructure projects, including data centers, marine cable networks, and 5G services.
Cairo ICT 2025 hosts five specialized events, including the Digital Payments and Financial Inclusion Exhibition (PAFIX), the Artificial Intelligence and Cloud Computing Conference (AIDC), the Connecta youth and entertainment technology expo, the Innovation Arena, and the Cyber Zone cybersecurity showcase.
The Ministry of Communications, Central Bank of Egypt, NTRA, ITIDA, Egyptian Post, and other key state institutions are participating, with Future of Egypt joining as the Guest of Honor to present its vision for digital transformation and data-driven services.
The event underscores Egypt’s position in Group A of the global government digital transformation readiness index and highlights the country’s accelerating progress in AI adoption, sustainability, connectivity, and the knowledge economy.
