Gabon Accelerates E-Visa and Digital Identity Projects to Strengthen Local Sovereignty

November 24, 2025
1 min read

The e-visa platform, which already allows online visa applications, is set to advance further with the integration of electronic payment capabilities.

The Ministry of Digital Economy, Digitalisation and Innovation  convened a working session on November 21 to review progress on several key digital initiatives, including the e-visa platform, national digital identity, and the integration of national preference in ongoing projects. Representatives from Airtel Money, Moov Money, and Clikpay Money provided updates on strategic sites and developments.

The e-visa platform, which already allows online visa applications, is set to advance further with the integration of electronic payment capabilities. This enhancement aims to create a fully digitalized service that is faster, more efficient, and transparent. The launch of the payment-enabled system is scheduled for December in coordination with MaDigiPaie.

In addition, a technical presentation with the Interior Ministry is planned for the following week to finalize guidelines for the national digital identity project. Discussions also emphasized the implementation of the principle of national preference, reinforcing local competencies and sovereignty, in alignment with the priorities outlined by President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema.
