Dubai’s AI-Native Foodtech Startup Funch Raises $500,000 Pre-Seed Round

Funch replaces traditional weekly meal plans—which often renew even when users skip meals—with a modern credit system.

Funch,  the AI-native lunch subscription startup, has raised $500,000 in a pre-seed funding round led by Angelspark, with participation from prominent regional and global investors including Mostafa Kandil (Founder of Swvl), Mahesh Murthy, Tushar F., Hamed Mustafa, Rutvik Deepak, and others.

Founded in 2025 by Ahmad Joehnny and Ghada Zanaty, Funch offers a flexible, credit-based lunch subscription for AED 19 per day with no delivery fees. Users can personalise their preferences and receive freshly prepared lunches daily, with the ability to skip, pause, or cancel at any time.

Funch replaces traditional weekly meal plans—which often renew even when users skip meals—with a modern credit system. Subscribers purchase credits to use when needed or enable auto-renewal for seamless top-ups. Once preferences and delivery windows are set, meals are automatically delivered.

“Our model is built around pre-planned orders, enabling us to operate with higher efficiency, reduce waste, and cut emissions with fewer trips. This aligns with Dubai’s 2040 Urban Master Plan and supports the city’s sustainability ambitions.”

Ghada Zanaty, Co-Founder and COO, Funch

As an AI-native service, Funch uses artificial intelligence to forecast demand, optimise delivery routes, reduce waste, rotate menus, and streamline operations. The funding will support the scaling of Funch’s operations across Dubai and enable further development of its AI systems.
