The Ministry of Communications and Digital Technologies emphasized its support for the new leadership teams as they assume their roles.

The Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, Mr. Solly Malatsi, has announced several key leadership appointments aimed at strengthening governance across the Department’s entities. These appointments, approved by Cabinet, form part of ongoing efforts to restore stability, good governance, and performance within the Department’s portfolio.

Cabinet has appointed Mr. Magatho Mello as the new Managing Director of the State Information Technology Agency (SITA) for a five-year term. The position had been vacant since 2023 and was previously filled in an acting capacity. Mr. Mello’s appointment is expected to bring much-needed stability to the agency’s leadership.

In addition, Mr. Nketheleni Norman Gidi has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the Film and Publication Board (FPB) on a five-year fixed-term contract, reinforcing leadership across the Department’s key entities.

Cabinet has also designated Mr. Themba Phiri as Chairperson of the Sentech SOC Ltd Board for the remainder of his term. Dr. Lebogang Mphahlele-Ntsasa and Dr. Sylvia Sathekge have been appointed as non-executive directors to the Sentech Board for three-year terms, further strengthening governance at the state-owned company.

The Ministry of Communications and Digital Technologies emphasized its support for the new leadership teams as they assume their roles. It also reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening oversight so that SITA, Sentech, and the FPB contribute fully to South Africa’s digital transformation agenda and the broader goal of restoring good governance across the public sector.
