Mauritania Advances Sector Digitalization with Somelec Online Service Launch
This initiative forms part of the government’s “Supporting Sector Digital Transformation” program, aimed at simplifying public service delivery, making essential services more accessible, and providing 24/7 availability to citizens.
The Mauritanian government has launched a new suite of digital services for the Mauritanian Electricity Company (Somelec), now available on the public services portal “My Services”. The launch was officiated in Nawakchout by Minister of Digital Transformation and Administration Modernization Ahmed Salem Ould Bode and Minister of Petroleum and Energy Mohamed Ould Mohamed Melainine Ould Khaled.
The digital package enables citizens to access Somelec’s key services remotely, including new subscriptions, cancellations, home-to-home subscription transfers, bill payments, fault reporting, and automatic consumption monitoring. The move allows users to manage their electricity services without the need to travel, enhancing convenience and efficiency.
