The initiative reflects IGAD’s efforts to promote coordinated regional approaches to digital infrastructure and services, leveraging public and private sector collaboration to drive integration and economic development.

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD)  has convened a regional validation workshop focused on developing a Public Private Partnerships (PPP) framework to accelerate digital transformation across its member states. The initiative is being supported by the World Bank through the Eastern Africa Regional Digital Integration Project (EARDIP).

The workshop was opened by the Head of IGAD Mission to Kenya, Dr. Fatuma Adan, while Dr. Mohy Tohami, IGAD’s Director of Economic Cooperation and Regional Integration, welcomed participants and outlined the meeting’s objectives and agenda. The session brings together policymakers, regulators, and PPP focal points from across the region.

Over three days, participants are reviewing and validating key deliverables, including a draft regional PPP framework, a compilation of best practices, and a training manual. These tools are designed to strengthen cooperation in areas such as connectivity, cybersecurity, innovation, and cross-border digital services.

The initiative reflects IGAD’s efforts to promote coordinated regional approaches to digital infrastructure and services, leveraging public and private sector collaboration to drive integration and economic development.
