Resilio Africa Launches to Strengthen Cybersecurity Across the Continent
Resilio Africa takes a practical, institution-specific approach, starting with a security assessment and implementing a 6-to-12-month improvement plan.
On 10 February 2025, Resilio Africa was launched in Lagos to strengthen cybersecurity for critical institutions across Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, and South Africa. Backed by Google and the CyberSafe Foundation, the programme will initially support 200 organisations—including hospitals, schools, media outlets, crisis helplines, and police services—by providing tools, training, and guidance to improve internal controls and data protection.
The initiative addresses the growing cyber threat landscape in Africa. Kenya recorded 2.54 billion cyber incidents between January and March 2025, while Nigerian organisations faced thousands of attempted attacks weekly.
Resilio Africa takes a practical, institution-specific approach, starting with a security assessment and implementing a 6-to-12-month improvement plan. Participating institutions will gain access to threat intelligence, incident response support, and digital resilience training. The programme aims to protect millions of users and records, with plans to expand coverage across the continent over time.
