Orange Business Senegal Partners SONAPAD to Transform Port of Dakar into Smart Port

March 6, 2026

The agreement, signed on March 5, aims to address three major priorities: modernizing port infrastructure with world-class connectivity, improving operational efficiency through digital systems, and strengthening cybersecurity to protect critical operations and ensure business continuity.

Orange Business Senegal  has signed a strategic partnership agreement with SONAPAD to support the digital transformation of the Port of Dakar, a key logistics hub for the country’s economy.

The agreement, signed on March 5, aims to address three major priorities: modernizing port infrastructure with world-class connectivity, improving operational efficiency through digital systems, and strengthening cybersecurity to protect critical operations and ensure business continuity.

As one of Senegal’s most strategic economic assets, the Port of Dakar handles a significant share of the country’s commercial trade flows. Through the partnership, the organizations plan to accelerate the digitization of services, including payment processes, while deploying advanced connectivity solutions to enhance port operations.

The initiative is also designed to support the development of a “Smart Port” model for Dakar. By integrating digital infrastructure and secure technology systems, the partners aim to improve efficiency, resilience, and competitiveness for the port on both regional and international trade routes.

Orange Business Senegal said the collaboration reinforces its role as a technology partner to key national institutions, while helping position Senegal as a more competitive player in the sub-regional and global economy.
