Morocco Signs Strategic Digital Infrastructure Partnership with Vertiv to Advance AI and Digital Morocco 2030
The agreement was signed in Rabat on 27 July by Minister Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni and Wojtek Piorko, Managing Director of Vertiv Africa, in the presence of Zineb Kamri, Vertiv's Regional Director for Northwest Africa.
Morocco has taken another step towards strengthening its digital infrastructure ambitions after the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with critical digital infrastructure company Vertiv.
The agreement was signed in Rabat on 27 July by Minister Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni and Wojtek Piorko, Managing Director of Vertiv Africa, in the presence of Zineb Kamri, Vertiv’s Regional Director for Northwest Africa.
The partnership establishes a framework for cooperation on the development of digital infrastructure, cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), high-performance computing (HPC), data centres, and the electrical power and cooling systems required to support these technologies.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Minister Seghrouchni described digital infrastructure as a cornerstone of Morocco’s technological sovereignty and a critical enabler of AI, innovation, the digital economy and the modernisation of public services.
The collaboration aligns with the country’s Digital Morocco 2030 strategy, the AI Made in Morocco roadmap and the national Cloud 2025-2030 roadmap, all of which seek to accelerate Morocco’s digital transformation and strengthen domestic digital capabilities.
Under the agreement, the Ministry and Vertiv will exchange technical expertise, conduct joint studies, identify strategic projects and explore innovative infrastructure solutions designed to meet Morocco’s future digital needs.
One of the key areas of focus will be supporting discussions around the development of a 50 MW sovereign data centre in Rabat. The proposed facility is expected to enhance Morocco’s sovereign cloud capabilities while providing infrastructure for digital public services, artificial intelligence, high-performance computing and cybersecurity.
Following the signing ceremony, Minister Seghrouchni also held meetings with Andre Biyong, Chief Strategy Officer and Deputy CEO of Cybastion, Amine Kandil, CEO of N+ONE Datacenters, and Yassine Benjelloun, Advisor to the CEO of N+ONE. The discussions, attended by Vertiv representatives, explored broader opportunities for collaboration on critical digital infrastructure, sovereign cloud, AI and advanced computing technologies.
The agreement reflects Morocco’s continued investment in digital infrastructure as the country positions itself as a regional technology and innovation hub, with sovereign cloud and AI infrastructure forming key pillars of its long-term digital strategy.
