Dan Kwach has announced his return to Nairobi and a new role with Cassava Technologies ’ AI team under Africa Data Centres , where he will serve as Executive for AI Data Centres.

Kwach said the new role will focus on building and operating AI data centre infrastructure while creating opportunities and supporting the growth of Africa’s digital economy. His return follows a short period in Madagascar, which he described as an opportunity to experience different cultures and gain a broader perspective on shared ambitions across the continent.

He said technology development in Africa should remain aligned with the continent’s socioeconomic priorities, including enterprise growth, innovation, sustainability, security, business resilience and the expansion of trade. He also highlighted job creation and improved productivity and efficiency as key areas where technology can contribute to Africa’s development.

Kwach is taking on the new position as demand for AI infrastructure continues to grow globally. He noted that Africa needs to play an active role in shaping the ongoing development of AI and ensuring the continent benefits from the opportunities created by the technology.
