The programme will also focus on teacher training and the development of digital learning resources suited to students’ needs. In addition, 500 adolescent girls will receive training in science, technology and digital skills, while 100 scholarships and awards of excellence will be provided to support students’ education.

The Orange Guinea Foundation  and UNICEF  have signed a memorandum of understanding to expand access to digital learning and educational technology in Guinea.

Signed on October 5, 2026, in Conakry, the partnership will provide solar-powered digital learning hubs with internet access to 50 schools across six regions. The initiative is designed to help schools integrate digital tools into learning while improving access to educational resources.

The programme will also focus on teacher training and the development of digital learning resources suited to students’ needs. In addition, 500 adolescent girls will receive training in science, technology and digital skills, while 100 scholarships and awards of excellence will be provided to support students’ education.

UNICEF Representative in Guinea, Maddalena Bertolotti, said digital technology could help improve learning conditions and reduce disparities, but stressed that technology alone would not address the challenges facing the country’s education system.

She highlighted the need for reliable electricity, internet connectivity, quality educational content and teacher training to ensure digital tools can be effectively used in schools and communities.

The partnership also includes efforts to ensure that digital educational content aligns with Guinea’s national curriculum. Malick Bah, Director General of the National Institute for Research and Pedagogical Action (INRAP), noted the importance of ensuring that digital resources are consistent with approved programmes and textbooks.

The initiative builds on Guinea’s wider efforts to digitise education, including the Learning Passport platform, which has reached more than 100 schools and nearly 1,000 teachers, according to INRAP.

Through the new partnership, the Orange Guinea Foundation and UNICEF aim to expand digital education while ensuring technology supports national learning priorities and provides practical benefits for students and teachers.
