The platform has gone live and is designed to ensure that speed limiters installed in vehicles are properly registered, certified and compliant with road safety requirements.

Kenya’s Technopolis Development Authority  has completed the implementation of a Digital Telematics Platform for the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), enabling digital monitoring of vehicle speed limiter compliance.

The platform has gone live and is designed to ensure that speed limiters installed in vehicles are properly registered, certified and compliant with road safety requirements.

It will also enable NTSA to monitor compliance, identify vehicles that do not meet the requirements and strengthen enforcement. The initiative is intended to help reduce speeding-related accidents and improve safety for motorists, passengers and other road users.

The project marks another step in Kenya’s efforts to modernise its transport systems through digital technology. According to the Technopolis Development Authority, the implementation demonstrates its capacity to develop and deliver digital solutions for national challenges and public service delivery.

The authority is also seeking to expand its role beyond smart city development by positioning itself as a government technology partner, using local expertise, enterprise technology solutions and digital innovation to support Kenya’s digital transformation agenda.

The authority credited its collaboration with NTSA and the work of the technical teams involved in delivering the platform, describing the project as part of its commitment to developing technology solutions for government institutions and the wider public.
