Liberia’s LTA Identifies 15 Potential Sites for New Telecom Towers
The assessment covers communities in Liberia’s western, central and southeastern regions, with the aim of identifying areas where additional infrastructure could improve access to telecommunications services.
Liberia’s Telecommunications Authority (LTA) has deployed two teams to assess telecommunications coverage gaps across 14 counties, identifying 15 potential locations for new towers under the country’s Universal Access Fund (UAF).
The assessment covers communities in Liberia’s western, central and southeastern regions, with the aim of identifying areas where additional infrastructure could improve access to telecommunications services.
According to the LTA, the initiative builds on 15 existing towers supported by the Universal Access Fund and seeks to extend affordable and reliable connectivity to underserved and unserved communities.
The proposed new tower sites are expected to help address gaps in network coverage, particularly in areas where access to telecommunications services remains limited. However, the authority has not yet announced a construction timeline or confirmed when the identified sites will be developed.
The assessment forms part of Liberia’s efforts to expand telecommunications access beyond areas already served by existing infrastructure, using the Universal Access Fund to support connectivity in communities that remain commercially underserved.
