Speaking at the opening on 28 October 2026, ANTIC Director General, Professor Ebot Ebot Enaw, highlighted the importance of security audits conducted by the agency and other protective measures in ensuring that fintech solutions and services remain secure and resilient.

Cameroon is stepping up efforts to strengthen the security of its financial technology (fintech) sector, with around 100 companies gathering in Mbankomo, Centre Region, for a three-day forum focused on regulation, cybersecurity and strategic partnerships.

The forum, themed “Security, Regulation and Strategic Partnerships for an Inclusive Digital Economy,” is being held under Digitise Cameroon 2026, an initiative co-piloted by the National Agency for Information and Communication Technologies (ANTIC) and non-governmental organisation The Change Engine.

Speaking at the opening on 28 October 2026, ANTIC Director General, Professor Ebot Ebot Enaw, highlighted the importance of security audits conducted by the agency and other protective measures in ensuring that fintech solutions and services remain secure and resilient.

He emphasised that a strong security framework is essential to building and maintaining customer trust, which remains critical to the sector’s long-term growth. He also noted that strengthening fintech security would help protect Cameroon’s more than 31.5 million active mobile subscriptions against risks such as sensitive customer data exposure, fraud and service disruptions.

The gathering provides fintech companies and other stakeholders with an opportunity to exchange experiences, share best practices and examine challenges facing the sector. It also aims to develop practical solutions for a more efficient, secure and resilient digital financial ecosystem.

The discussions come amid the growing economic contribution of digital financial services in Cameroon. In 2024, digital payment services generated more than FCFA 1,022 billion in revenue, equivalent to 3.16% of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP), while active mobile subscriptions exceeded 31.5 million.
