Smart Zambia Boosts Connectivity with Starlink Rollout to Remote Shiwang’andu
This initiative marks a significant milestone in enhancing digital access, improving healthcare, education, and economic opportunities for residents in Muchinga Province.

The SMART Zambia Muchinga team, in collaboration with the Shiwangandu Town Council, have successfully deployed Starlink high-speed internet to 9 key sites in the district, bridging the digital divide for underserved and unserved communities. The connected sites include 6 health facilities, a secondary school, civic center, and district health office.
This initiative marks a significant milestone in enhancing digital access, improving healthcare, education, and economic opportunities for residents in Muchinga Province.
According to Provincial Principal Head of ICT, Mr. Francis Sangale, the team worked tirelessly with Mr. Itayi Mudekwa, Shiwangandu Town Council’s Systems Analyst, to complete the installations.
The connected sites include: Mungulube Health Post, Kantimba Health Post, Chinkumba Health Post, Kalantekwe Health Post, Mayembe Health Post, Kalantekwe Secondary School, Shiwang’andu Civic Center, Mukungwa Health post, Shiwang’andu District Health Office.
This initiative aims to enhance connectivity and improve access to vital services in the region. The SMART Zambia team and Shiwangandu Town Council are committed to continuing their collaboration, exploring new ways to leverage technology and drive growth in the region.
