Its entry-level/mid-range A Series devices getting specific attention in this regard. To that end, in the coming months we should see the Oppo A72, A53 and A15s being launched in South Africa. The A72 (pictured above) is expected to be the first device to launch in the country, come 7th October, followed by the A53 and A15s thereafter on 7th November.

Focusing on the A72 , it’s sporting a 6.5” LCD display with a left-aligned punch hole for the 16MP selfie camera found up front. The rear features a quartet of lenses – a 48MP wide-angle, 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP monochrome and 2MP depth sensing. Internally an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chipset and 4GB RAM. There’s also a 5 000mAh battery onboard, as well as Oppo claiming that it will be Android 11 ready.

Vodacom is earmarked as the first network to be stocking all three of the aforementioned devices locally, along with its retail partners and outlets across the country, but Oppo’s local representatives notes that the devices should be available across all retailers in the new year.

The same goes for any new devices that Oppo launches in 2021, with flagship devices expected to be brought into the market following their global unveilings.

That said, it is important to note that Oppo is taking a device-by-device approach when it comes to choosing which devices to launch locally or not. As such, Oppo explains that devices relevant to the South African market will be brought here based on the value that they will offer consumers.

Pricing for the three devices is subject to change, Oppo notes, but the recommended retail price (RRP) for the A72 is R6 999. The A53 and A15s are yet to have their prices confirmed at this stage.
