Telecom Egypt named the fastest fixed network in North Africa by Ookla® in Q3 and Q4

Telecom Egypt’s fixed network was named the fastest fixed network in North Africa for the third and fourth quarters of 2020 for reaching average internet speeds of 32.66 Mbps, according to Ookla®.

Evaluations are based on a careful analysis of tests that are run by users through Speedtest®. This award confirms Telecom Egypt’s keenness to support Egypt’s digital transformation through its continuous investments in developing and upgrading its infrastructure.

Telecom Egypt has made significant investments over the past years to develop its infrastructure across all Egyptian governorates by updating and expanding its international, core, transmission, and backbone networks. It also focused on accelerating the deployment of multi-service access nodes (MSANs) and fiber optic cables, and simultaneously increased the efficiency of its terrestrial network to best serve its customers. Such efforts have contributed to the radical improvement in the quality of services being provided to individual and enterprise customers, as the network has been able to absorb the huge increase in data traffic, and provide the highest fixed broadband speeds to the market.

“Attaining this title comes in recognition of our great and continuous efforts to develop our network infrastructure, and improve the quality of internet services in Egypt. We are very proud to have earned this achievement, despite the exceptional circumstances and great challenges brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, which was accompanied by an unprecedented surge in data demand.”

Adel Hamed, TE’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer
