ARPT Grants Telecom License to MTN Guinea

ARPT has announced that they have granted a 3G, 3G, and 4G license to MTN Guinea.

The General Management of the ARPT has infromed all the actors of the granting of a 2G, 3G, 4G license to the operator MTN-Guinea for the operation of a telecommunications network open to the public. As a reminder, the creation of the conditions for effective competition in the telephone market
mobile, and this in the interest of consumers is one of the priorities of the new Management General of the ARPT.

In this perspective, the General Management of the ARPT remains determined to:
• make all operators face up to their obligations in terms of good coverage, better quality of services and latest generation technologies;
• give consumers more choice in terms of products and services;
• make the costs of products and services more affordable, particularly for the Internet.

To this end, discussions have been initiated with MTN-Guinea and the MTN Group to invite them to comply on the one hand, with the provisions of the legislative and regulatory texts in the matter, and on the other hand, to require their commitment to invest in the Republic of GUINEA. This resulted in the invitation to Conakry of the Senior Vice-President of MTN Africa and Middle East, Mr. EBenezer ASANTE.

After the visit of Mr. Ebenezer ASANTE to Conakry, received by Mr. Ie Director General of the ARPT, and in the company of the Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and the Economy Digital, audiences were granted respectively by the Prime Minister and His Excellency, Mr. President of the Transition, Colonel Mamadi DOUMBOUYA. Then followed at the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and the Digital Economy, the signing of the 2G, 3G, 4G license for the benefit of MTN-Guinea, on Friday February 04, 2022. Furthermore, it should be noted that the cases of the Operators Cellcom and Guinea Telecom will constitute the next step, in accordance with the vision and the dynamics driven by His Excellency, Mr. President of the Transition, Colonel Mamadi DOUMBOUYA.
