On Tuesday, 3 May 2022, the Premier of the Western Cape, Alan Winde, the. U.S. Consul General, Todd Haskell, and the U.S. Trade and Development Agency’s (USTDA) Regional Director for Sub-Saharan Africa, Heather Lanigan, officially signed the R20 million broadband feasibility study agreement.

The study aims to look at solutions to bridge the digital divide and strengthen internet access in marginalised and rural communities. This will bolster the Western Cape Government’s broadband infrastructure by providing affordable high-speed broadband networks throughout the province.
