Vodafone Ghana to Sell 70% Stake to Telecel

In recent news, Vodafone PLC has reportedly agreed to sell a 70% stake of Vodafone Ghana to Telecel in an effort to focus on key markets.

Customers, employees, suppliers and other stakeholders of Vodafone Ghana should be assured that we are continuing with business as usual.

In August 2008, Vodafone acquired a 70% stake in national PTO Ghana telecom from the country’s government in a deal of USD900 million. However, since then there has been a struggle to compete to be a dominant market leader with MTN. As of 31st March 2022, Vodafone held 19% of the country’s mobile subscriptions while MTN held 60%.
