Group Vivendi Africa (GVA) has acquired subsea capacity from the 2Africa subsea fibre cable through MTN GlobalConnect on track to serve the African continent.

The 45,000km, 180 Terabits per second (Tbps) 2Africa cable system will bring much-needed additional international capacity for internet and other services. It will further support high-speed internet delivery and provide greater diversity, which will benefit businesses and individuals in Africa.

This deal will increase GVA’s capacity and diversify its West African operations, which is in line with its growth plan for the region.

This is a great opportunity for MTN GlobalConnect and GVA to collaborate and create a better-connected future for Africa. We are proud to have achieved this important milestone and look forward to a successful partnership, making a committed contribution to communications in Africa.

Frédéric Schepens, CEO, MTN GlobalConnect .
