Amazon Prime Video Triggers Staff and Content Cuts in MENA and Africa

In a strategic move, Amazon Prime Video is realigning its international business, placing a heightened emphasis on European original content. As part of this reorganization, the streaming giant will reportedly make significant content and staff cuts in Africa and the Middle East.

There is a possibility that Amazon may halt the approval of new local original content in Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, and North Africa in the near term. While Prime Video remains operational in these regions, the restructuring could lead to staff redundancies within the local teams. Notably, ongoing projects like “LOL ZA” and “Ebuka Turns Up Africa” from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region will proceed as planned.
