Airtel Africa have partnered with the Government of Tanzania to facilitate access to digital learning content in 3,000 schools in the country over the next five years.

Through the Airtel SmartWasomi school connectivity project, they intend to modernize classrooms in these schools by equipping them with Smart TVs that are connected to high-speed internet to access digital learning content.

According to the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Carolyne Nombo the project will bring about significant changes in learning outcomes in the country, besides increasing pupils’ enthusiasm, particularly in schools that have inadequate learning and teaching materials.

Indeed, as observed by the Managing Director of Airtel Tanzania, Dinesh Balsingh, education is a fundamental right for every child. Airtel Africa stated that they are delighted to join hands with the government to help make this a reality by ensuring that every learner has equal opportunity to quality education.
