Safaricom Ethiopia Expands Services in Somali Region with Government Support

In Jigjiga, Safaricom Telecommunications Ethiopia PLC’s CEO, Wim Vanhelleputte, met with the Vice-President of the Regional State of Somali, H.E. Ibrahim Ousman Farah, to discuss expanding services in the region.

Vanhelleputte announced plans to build additional network sites to enhance coverage across the Somali region. The Vice-President assured Safaricom of the local administration’s full support for the network rollout and business development.

Additionally, Safaricom and the local government are collaborating on social development initiatives, including boosting digital literacy and ICT education in high schools.
