The Egyptian Space Agency (EgSA) has announced the successful conclusion of the operational phase of NExSAT-1, Egypt’s pioneering Earth observation satellite. This landmark achievement, realized through a collaboration with the renowned German firm BST, marks a significant leap in Egypt’s space technology capabilities.

Over the past two years, the project has been instrumental in advancing Egyptian expertise across various domains, including system engineering, software development, satellite assembly, and operational management. The Egyptian team, in close partnership with BST, has developed comprehensive onboard software, attitude control algorithms, and ground control station (GCS) software, which culminated in a successful commissioning phase and the satellite’s independent operations.

NExSAT-1 represents a crucial milestone for Egypt’s space program, showcasing the nation’s dedication to innovation, international collaboration, and technological excellence. The satellite’s successful deployment highlights Egypt’s growing capabilities in space technology and paves the way for future advancements.

In celebration, EgSA is also thrilled to release the first image captured by NExSAT-1’s High-Performance Onboard Computer (HPOBC). This image, produced with the onboard software developed by the Egyptian team, stands as a testament to the two years of diligent effort and collaboration. EgSA extends heartfelt thanks to BST and the Egyptian commissioning phase operation team for their indispensable contributions to this achievement.
