AU Backs President Akufo-Addo’s Mobile Money Interoperability Proposal

The African Union (AU) has officially endorsed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s proposal to implement mobile money interoperability across the continent. This pivotal endorsement, made during the AU’s Sixth Mid-Year Coordination Meeting of Regional Economic Communities in Accra, represents a significant stride towards economic integration in Africa.

The proposal aims to streamline economic transactions by enabling seamless mobile money transfers between different countries, thereby boosting intra-Africa trade and development. President Akufo-Addo’s initiative was supported following the presentation of two comprehensive reports at the meeting, highlighting the proposal’s potential benefits for enhancing economic efficiency and connectivity across Africa.
