Uganda Electric Mobility Association have launched the Uganda Electric Mobility Association (UEMA), marking a pivotal milestone in the advancement of electric mobility in Uganda.

The Ugandan government is implementing initiatives to boost electric vehicle (EV) adoption, including long-term tax incentives for local manufacturers and excise duty cuts. Officials expect electricity tariffs to decrease as EV usage scales up, aiming for reductions once 10,000 EVs are on the road and 10% of production is local.

The government also emphasizes the urgent need for expanded charging infrastructure, advocating partnerships for a national charging station network. Innovative financing models are being considered to enhance accessibility for consumers. Additionally, vehicle conversion mandates for imported vehicles could accelerate EV adoption.
