Stabex and Airtel Uganda Revolutionize Fuel Payments with Cashless Top-Up Solution
Stabex and Airtel Uganda introduce a cashless fuel card top-up system using Airtel Money, enhancing payment convenience, supporting financial inclusion, and promoting environmental sustainability across Uganda.
Stabex International Limited, in partnership with Airtel Uganda, has launched an innovative solution to simplify fuel payments for Ugandans. The Stabex Card Top-Up system, unveiled at the company’s headquarters in Nansana, allows customers to load money onto their Stabex fuel cards using Airtel Money, promoting cashless transactions nationwide.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to financial inclusion, digital innovation, and environmental sustainability.
This solution enhances efficiency in service delivery, reduces the need for cash, and contributes to environmental conservation by minimizing paper receipt printing.

Together with Airtel, we are providing customers with a seamless way to manage their fuel payments while reducing the need for physical cash and paper.

This partnership is not just about technology—it’s about changing lives. By enabling Stabex customers to top up their fuel cards anytime and anywhere using Airtel Money (*185# option 5 then option 8), we provide convenience and empower people to manage their finances better.
This is a solution that gives people control over their fuel budgets. For example, a rider can allocate 50,000 shillings for the month and manage it easily using their Stabex Card.
– Japhet ARITHO, Managing Director, Airtel Money
The partnership improves customer convenience and supports sustainability goals. Stabex’s IT Manager Antony noted that the system reduces the need for paper receipts and physical cash, contributing to a greener economy.
By going digital, we are improving efficiency and reducing our environmental footprint.

The launch event concluded with Mr. Aritho becoming the first customer to top up his Stabex Card using Airtel Money. This symbolic moment marked the beginning of a collaboration that aims to transform Ugandans’ interactions with financial services.
With extensive operations across Uganda, both Stabex and Airtel’s partnership is expected to make cashless fuel payments accessible to customers nationwide. The initiative is a bold step toward a cashless economy, offering a convenient, secure, and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional payment methods.
