Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji reaffirms Nigeria’s space commitment, highlighting regulation updates, collaboration needs, and space’s growing role in innovation and security.

Nigeria’s Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji, has reaffirmed  the country’s commitment to advancing its space ambitions.

Speaking at a stakeholder workshop focused on implementing the 2015 Regulations on Licensing and Supervision of Space Activities, Nnaji highlighted the evolving role of space as a vital asset for national development.

He noted that space is no longer reserved for visionaries alone, but has become a critical frontier for innovation, economic growth, and national security.

He mentioned that with updated frameworks, Nigeria will:
  • Ensure fair and efficient supervision of space activities,
  • Protect our orbital and frequency resources,
  • Minimize risks of space debris and congestion, and
  • Align fully with international space obligations.

I deeply appreciate the leadership of Dr. Mathew Adepoju and the NASRDA team for their tireless work. This is not a journey government can walk alone — we need robust collaboration with private players, academia, and global partners.
