South Africa Ranks 60th in OpenSignal’s Global Network Excellence Index

OpenSignal  has released its latest Global Network Excellence Index, ranking mobile markets worldwide based on their readiness to support future digital demands. The index uses key metrics such as 4G/5G availability, excellent consistent quality, and download speeds to assess mobile network performance.

South Africa placed 60th overall in the global ranking. The country ranked 55th for 4G/5G availability, 63rd for excellent consistent quality, 52nd for 4G download speed, and 42nd for 5G download speed. These figures provide a snapshot of the current state of mobile connectivity in South Africa.

The index offers valuable insights for policymakers, regulators, and network providers, helping identify areas for improvement and investment. As digital connectivity becomes increasingly critical, these metrics play a vital role in ensuring reliable and future-proof mobile infrastructure.
