SABC Pledges Free-to-Air Broadcasts for Major Football Events

The move underscores SABC’s continued commitment to making top-tier football accessible to all South Africans.

South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) Group CEO Nomsa Chabeli has committed to delivering major upcoming football events, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup, on free-to-air platforms for South African viewers, SABC Sport  has reported.

Under her leadership, the public broadcaster has already provided extensive access to recent CAF competitions. These include the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, the ongoing CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup, the recent CAF Women’s Champions League, and the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The move underscores SABC’s continued commitment to making top-tier football accessible to all South Africans.
