Vitel Wireless partners with PortaOne to launch Nigeria’s first Tier-3 MVNO, offering flexible, customer-focused mobile services via PortaBilling.

PortaOne  is pleased to announce that the first company to secure a tier-3 Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) license under the new Nigerian telecom framework, has joined PortaOne’s customer community of forward-thinking MVNOs.

Vitel Wireless  plans to use the PortaBilling real-time billing and charging platform to launch a new, customer-centered mobile service in its home country, and has already undergone a successful test with Africa’s largest mobile network operator, as its main network infrastructure provider.

With our new MVNO service, we are introducing innovative solutions that go beyond what the dominant four operators currently offer in Nigeria’s telecoms market. We are excited about being able to leverage the flexibility of PortaBilling and the PortaOne API to be able to bring this service to the Nigerian market quickly.

– Kenneth Nwabueze, Chairman, Vitel Wireless

The flexibility of PortaBilling and its API will allow Vitel Wireless to adapt the platform to their needs, and use low- and no-code tools to launch and expand their new MVNO service quickly. This will enable real-time charging, SIM card activation/deactivation, and other types of information updates on the mobile network side required for seamless service provisioning and a good customer experience. See our news article  for additional details on this collaboration.

We are very excited to partner with one of the first tier-3-licensed companies to enter the MVNO race in Nigeria. Vitel Wireless has already set itself apart by offering a highly-specialized service that will solve a real problem for a specific market, and the flexibility of PortaBilling and our open API will allow them to continue to adapt quickly and stay ahead of the competition in the new, fast-changing Nigerian marketplace.

– Andriy Zhylenko, CEO, PortaOne
