Eutelsat Group Launches First LEO Earth Station in Angola to Power Central Africa’s Digital Future

Eutelsat Group has officially inaugurated its Eutelsat OneWeb Earth Station in Luanda, marking a pivotal moment in Angola’s journey toward greater digital inclusion and connectivity. The newly launched ground station brings Eutelsat’s low Earth orbit (LEO) network online in Angola and across Central Africa, delivering fast, resilient connectivity to underserved and remote communities.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by high-level dignitaries including H.E. Mário Augusto da Silva Oliveira, Angola’s Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication; H.E. Joaquim Muhongo, CEO of INACOM ; and H.E. Mr. Roz Griffiths, Deputy Ambassador of the United Kingdom. Afke Schaart represented Eutelsat Group and joined the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
This development reinforces Eutelsat’s commitment to bridging the digital divide and supporting inclusive economic growth. By expanding access to reliable internet through space-based solutions, the Earth station will support national priorities for digital transformation across both urban and rural areas.
