Korean technology giant Naver has announced plans to build a next-generation AI data centre in Morocco, in partnership with Nvidia , AI infrastructure specialist Nexus Core Systems, and global investment firm Lloyd Capital.
The consortium will develop a 500-megawatt facility powered entirely by renewable energy, designed to serve as a sovereign AI computing hub for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region. The centre will support end-to-end AI operations—from data storage to processing—within local jurisdictions, addressing growing concerns around data sovereignty and technological independence.
Morocco’s strategic location—just 15 kilometres from Europe and connected by multiple subsea fibre-optic cables—was a key factor in the site selection. Naver Cloud will act as a platform operator, alongside Nexus Core Systems and Lloyd Capital, to deliver integrated AI services through an advanced cloud infrastructure.
Construction of the first phase will begin in Q4 2025, starting with a 40-megawatt AI supercomputing system equipped with Nvidia’s cutting-edge Blackwell (GB200) GPUs. The centre will scale in phases, ultimately reaching its full 500-megawatt capacity.
To ensure a reliable and sustainable energy supply, the consortium has secured a strategic power agreement with UAE-based renewable energy firm TAQA.
This initiative marks a significant milestone for Naver’s international AI ambitions and positions Morocco as a rising player in the global AI infrastructure landscape.
