Over 50,000 Reported Cases of Telecom Vandalism in Nigeria — NCC Urges Public Vigilance
This growing threat poses a significant challenge to national connectivity and digital inclusion efforts.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has sounded the alarm over the widespread vandalism of telecommunications infrastructure across the country, warning that such acts are severely disrupting essential services including healthcare access, mobile banking, education, and communication.
The Commission revealed that over 50,000 cases of telecom infrastructure vandalism have been reported in the past five years. This growing threat poses a significant challenge to national connectivity and digital inclusion efforts.
The NCC has urged the public to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity. Citizens are encouraged to contact the Commission by email at protect@ncc.gov.ng or by calling the toll-free number 622.
“Damaging telecom infrastructure affects us all,” the NCC stated, emphasizing that protecting these assets is a shared responsibility critical to national development.
This call to action comes amid broader efforts by the Commission to strengthen digital infrastructure, improve service delivery, and ensure that all Nigerians benefit from a secure and reliable communications network.
