Stadio Appoints Merwe Roux as Group CIO to Lead Tech Strategy and Innovation
In his new role, Roux will lead the group’s technology strategy, focusing on enhancing the student experience, optimizing operations, and supporting Stadio’s long-term goal of educating over 100,000 students.
Private higher education group Stadio Holdings has appointed Merwe Roux as its new Group Chief Information Officer (CIO), reinforcing the institution’s focus on technology-led transformation and innovation.
Roux previously served as CIO for Stadio Higher Education in 2023 and was instrumental in leading the continuous improvement and innovation function from 2021 to 2023. His earlier tenure at Stadio included helping guide the company through its JSE listing in 2017.
In 2020, Roux left the institution to found Enlabeler, an AI-focused startup, which he exited during the early investment stage. He rejoined Stadio in late 2021 to build an innovation-focused unit within the CEO’s office, delivering key advancements across operational and academic systems.
In his new role, Roux will lead the group’s technology strategy, focusing on enhancing the student experience, optimizing operations, and supporting Stadio’s long-term goal of educating over 100,000 students. His appointment comes at a time when technology is playing an increasingly critical role in the evolution of higher education delivery.
