This cooperation will focus, in particular, on the development of telecommunications infrastructure, especially regarding international bandwidth and undersea cable networks.

As part of the official visit undertaken by H.E. Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President of the Republic, to the Republic of Italy, during which he chaired the proceedings of “the 5th High-Level Algerian-Italian Government Summit”, Mr. Sid Ali Zerrouli, Minister of Post and Telecommunications, signed—alongside Mr. Adolfo URSO, Italian Minister of Enterprises and Industry a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening, promoting, and developing cooperation in the field of postal and telecommunications services between the two countries.
This cooperation will focus, in particular, on the development of telecommunications infrastructure, especially regarding international bandwidth and undersea cable networks, the improvement of postal and communication services for the benefit of the citizens of both countries, and the establishment of mechanisms to ensure their continuity under all circumstances. The agreement also provides for the enhancement of human capital through technical workshops and training programs for experts from both sides.
Within this same framework, bilateral cooperation between Algeria and Italy will be further reinforced by encouraging partnerships between telecommunications operators, with the objective of boosting international interconnectivity, as well as expanding mobile data services, cloud computing capabilities, (5G) solutions, and IoTs.
Furthermore, the Memorandum of Understanding seeks to deepen collaboration in highly strategic areas such as data protection, cybersecurity, radio communications, spectrum management, and the promotion of innovation.
On the occasion of his meeting with his Italian counterpart, Mr. Zerrouki reaffirmed the depth and strength of Algerian-Italian relations, underscoring the qualitative shift they are currently undergoing—from a traditional partnership to a forward-looking alliance rooted in a shared vision and a clearly defined roadmap, with the aim of building a connected, secure, and innovative future.
He also stressed that, in today’s context, the notion of sovereignty extends beyond physical borders to encompass data, digital infrastructure, and technological capabilities. Accordingly, he called for Algerian-Italian relations to serve as a pioneering model of digital integration and technological cooperation—one that reinforces the digital sovereignty of both nations and advances their strategic interests in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
In conclusion, Mr. Zerrouki expressed his firm commitment to creating all the necessary conditions for the effective and methodical implementation of the provisions of the MoU. He reaffirmed Algeria’s resolve to take concrete and tangible steps to bring this cooperation to fruition, in a spirit of mutual benefit and shared progress.
