Galaxy Backbone Champions Disaster Recovery to Safeguard Nigeria’s Digital Future

With Galaxy Backbone’s disaster recovery services, Nigerian organisations can move forward with confidence, knowing that their digital assets—and their reputation—are safeguarded against whatever tomorrow may bring.

Galaxy Backbone (GBB ), Nigeria’s federal digital infrastructure and shared services provider, has issued a strong call to action for public and private organisations to prioritise disaster recovery as a strategic necessity rather than an afterthought.

In an official statement, GBB stressed that as data becomes central to governance, commerce, and service delivery, Nigerian institutions must prepare for disruptions not as hypothetical risks, but as inevitable events. From cyberattacks and hardware failures to human error and natural disasters, the threat of data loss looms large across all sectors.

“Disaster recovery is no longer just an IT service—it is a business continuity strategy,” GBB said. “The question is not if disruption will happen, but whether organisations are prepared to recover.”

GBB highlighted its Tier III and Tier IV data centres in Abuja and Kano as part of the country’s defence against digital crises. Built to global standards with fault-tolerant architecture, these facilities offer secure hosting, off-site replication, and high-availability systems. The centres are supported by ISO 22301-certified business continuity frameworks that prioritise operational resilience and data sovereignty.

“We combine secure infrastructure with rapid failover capabilities to ensure seamless continuity,” GBB added. “Our services allow clients to recover operations quickly and safely within Nigeria’s borders.”

Beyond technology, GBB emphasised the importance of proactive planning, internal training, and continuous testing. The organisation collaborates with clients to identify critical systems, conduct simulations, and refine response strategies to meet realistic recovery objectives.

For government agencies, GBB’s disaster recovery services help maintain uninterrupted public services and regulatory compliance. For businesses, they offer reduced downtime, lower financial losses, and increased trust.

“With the growing scale of cyber threats and digital interdependence, disaster recovery is critical to national resilience,” GBB concluded. “We are not only protecting data—we are future-proofing Nigeria’s digital journey.”
