SMART Zambia Wins Best Public Sector ICT Innovation Award at TICON 2025
This recognition highlights Zambia’s growing influence in the field of digital transformation and positions the nation as a standard-setter for public sector innovation throughout Africa.
The e-Government Division of Zambia, known as the SMART Zambia Institute , has won the Best Public Sector ICT Innovation Award of the Year at the 2025 Technology Information Confederation Africa (TICON) Awards. The prestigious ceremony, held in Accra, Ghana on August 22, 2025, celebrates leading innovators and technology visionaries from across the continent.
Mr. Mulomba Hameja, Director of Government Services, and Ms. Delight Haangala, Assistant Director of Communications, were in attendance to receive the award on behalf of the institute. This recognition highlights Zambia’s growing influence in the field of digital transformation and positions the nation as a standard-setter for public sector innovation throughout Africa. The win is a testament to the country’s efforts to leverage technology to improve efficiency, transparency, and citizen access to government services.
This is not the first time SMART Zambia has been recognized for its efforts. The institute was also the runner-up in the Public Sector Transformational Award category at the Liquid Intelligent Technologies Zambia Excellence Awards in July 2025, and won the Best Overall Exhibitor Award at the Africa Public Service Day exhibition in June 2024.
