Iraq Opens New IT & AI Training Facility to Drive Digital Transformation

The new training lab is designed to equip students and graduates with advanced IT and AI skills, enhance the educational environment, and strengthen Iraq’s capacity to keep pace with global digital transformation trends.

The Southern Technical University  has officially inaugurated a new Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) training laboratory, established in partnership with Smart Cloud Group .

The inauguration ceremony was held under the patronage of Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, Iraq’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and supervised by Prof. Dr. Adnan Abdullah Atteeq, President of Southern Technical University.

The event was attended by key officials, including MP Dr. Yaseen Hassan Thaher, Hassan Al-Najjar, Deputy Governor of Basra, Dr. Mowafaq Sajet Sameer from the Ministry of Higher Education, Dr. Maher Taleb Abdulzahra, Director of the Continuing Education Center, as well as representatives from WUSC Canada.

The new training lab is designed to equip students and graduates with advanced IT and AI skills, enhance the educational environment, and strengthen Iraq’s capacity to keep pace with global digital transformation trends.

According to Smart Cloud Group, the collaboration reflects a strategic commitment to bridging academic learning with the demands of the labor market, while supporting the country’s broader digital innovation and economic development goals.
