Kenya Launches Qubit Hub to Advance AI Research and Innovation
The launch of the Qubit Hub positions Kenya as a growing continental hub for AI-driven solutions, reinforcing the country’s role in Africa’s broader digital transformation journey.
Kenya has officially launched the Qubit Hub Research Centre in Nairobi, a major step toward advancing artificial intelligence (AI) research, development, and commercialization in the country.
The initiative is closely aligned with the 2025–2030 National AI Strategy, which aims to position Kenya as a regional leader in AI innovation and technology-driven growth. The Qubit Hub will provide the infrastructure needed to support cutting-edge research, learning, and development in AI, while also giving innovators access to resources that will enable breakthroughs in digital solutions.
The centre is expected to play a key role in closing the digital divide by ensuring that more Kenyans can participate in and benefit from the digital economy. Officials highlighted that the existing capacity in the country, combined with supportive policies such as reduced power costs and easier access to hardware, would significantly enhance the impact of such investments.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a digitally empowered nation and emphasized its support for initiatives like Qubit Hub, noting that these investments strengthen Kenya’s innovation ecosystem and attract further opportunities from both local and international partners.
