Zambia’s ICT Sector Charts New Course with Launch of ICTAZ 2025–2027 Strategic Plan

Through its 2025–2027 Strategic Plan, ICTAZ aims to shift focus from institutional establishment to accelerating the delivery of measurable value, cementing its role as a central partner in Zambia’s digital and economic transformation.

Zambia’s digital transformation efforts gained momentum this week with the official launch of the ICT Association of Zambia’s (ICTAZ) 2025–2027 Strategic Plan. The initiative was unveiled by the Minister of Technology and Science, Hon. Felix Mutati, who praised ICTAZ for its growing influence in the region and its role in positioning Zambia as a competitive player in Africa’s technology landscape.

The Minister described ICT professionals as “the architects of the Digital Economy that Zambia aspires to achieve,” adding that the strategic plan will be central to expanding digital services to underserved communities. He also commended ICTAZ for its commitment to accountability and transparency, noting that such practices inspire confidence among stakeholders and reinforce standards of good governance.

The new strategy comes shortly after Zambia’s successful bid to host the 2026 Technology Information Confederation Africa (TICON Africa) Conference. According to the Minister, this achievement firmly establishes ICTAZ as a leader in the continental ICT sector.

ICTAZ President Dr. Clement Sinyangwe described the strategic plan as a comprehensive and measurable roadmap that will guide the association’s contributions to Zambia’s digital transformation agenda. He highlighted ICTAZ’s growth in both membership and regional influence, noting that peer organizations from across Africa have expressed interest in learning from the association’s progress.

In his presentation, ICTAZ CEO Chellah Silavwe explained that the plan is anchored on five strategic pillars, including financial sustainability, member value, technology-driven innovation, institutional capacity building, and a values-driven culture. He emphasized that these pillars will allow ICTAZ to deliver tangible benefits to members while strengthening its role as a driver of innovation, talent development, and professional standards in the ICT sector.

The launch event also celebrated winners of the TICON Africa Awards, which recognized outstanding achievements in ICT across the continent. In a vote of thanks, Ms. Matambila Karima Chuunga described the day as a milestone for the association, stating that the unveiling of the new strategy would serve as “a beacon for the future of ICT in Zambia.”

Through its 2025–2027 Strategic Plan, ICTAZ aims to shift focus from institutional establishment to accelerating the delivery of measurable value, cementing its role as a central partner in Zambia’s digital and economic transformation.
